詠螃蟹 – 皮日休

 

未遊滄海早知名，有骨還從肉上生。

莫道無心畏雷電，海龍王處也橫行。

 

Ode to Crabs by Pi Rixiu

 

Ere I tour the sea, the reputed crab I know,

Outside its flesh, a skeleton it doth grow.

Say not it’s spineless, in front of the thunderbolt

Or the Sea-Dragon-King, it dares strut to and fro.
