Slept With No Pillow, Injured A Shoulder, And Sat Full-Lotus

This weekend, three things of personal historical importance
happened ;-)

First, I was able to sleep through the night on my back, on
the Jiu-Jitsu mat, and without a pillow. I used to snore
which woke myself up when I tried to sleep like that. In
addition to one less need (the small pillow), this ability
means that I can effortlessly correct my screen-bound
hunching posture during the day for at least seven hours
at night. My body and especially the shoulders and spine
will thank me. It's promising.

Next, I did two forward break-falls on the floor at my
workplace and hurt my left shoulder. The newly-laid
thin-layer of carpet on concrete did not help much but my
form was mainly to blame in the second fall. In addition, I
was distracted by the narrow space and the security pass
hanging on my belt.

This was good feedback. I was used to falling on the
forgiving mat and thought I was pretty good at it already. I
should've made the lead arm firmer and carried the load
longer on the fore-arm before the shoulder hit the ground. I
could also shorten the period of shoulder contact with the
floor. I could have learnt this a much harder way.

Yoga was no problem, Jiu-Jitsu classes should be fine, I
could still do pullups. But due to this injury, I should
take a week off from weight-lifting.

Last, my full-lotus sitting started to take shape. For
months, I sit half-lotus for at least three hours at my work
place every day. It has paid off and I am very thankful that
I could make the progress.
