Hearbroken things happen to kind hearted people

Enough time has passed for me to write it down (more than two years ago)

In the spring semester of her high school senior year, she and Darin became a steady couple. They were classmates, in the same orchestra, going to the same church, had the similar thrift attitude, and fully aware that they would be in two different colleges thousands of miles apart.

In the summer, he worked part-time, and  invited her to meet his parents, siblings and grandma in several occasions, and she invited him to spend some time at our home. All was well.

During the fall break, she flew home for her break. He invited her to visit his college to meet his college roommates and friends. The college was about two hours of driving. We had some reservations about this visit, chiefly, where they were going to stay. The young man gathered up his friends, both boys and girls, and formed a solidarity, and ensured that this visit would be safe and fun.

Came and went the winter break. They decided that he would be the one to visit her college during the upcoming spring break.

Her mom knew a little more details about it than I did. Her mom informed about this visit three weeks before spring break.  Both of us grew increasingly anxious, as it got closer and closer to the spring break, though we kept them to ourselves. The visit seemed to have gone very well.

Two weeks later he returned to his college, came the shocking news that he wanted to get out of this relationship. I could not imagine how heartbroken she was, how upsetting to her. Despite this maddening event, she remained calm and collected. Unlike her, her mom was vividly mad, and accused him of many names, and she just could not accept his reason of splitting. Unlike her mom, I do not blame the boy nor her for the brekaup.  We should not expect that every single first attempt is a successful attempt.

Shortly after, we bought her a ticket to fly home for the Easter weekend as we could not wait till the end of semester to see her. No matter how short the home stay was, we hope that our tight hug at the airport gave her a little comfort and a delicious home cooked meal gave her a temporary recharge.

We do not stop her from doing what she wants to do, nor we could.  We do appreciate a heads-up.
