這首歌曲就是說的這份傷心是沒有性別的。這首歌被許多人稱為“分手歌” （break-up song），男女都適用。聽完之後，不知為何，會有一絲會心的喜悅，也許，整個曲子其實蠻歡樂的。看著伴舞的男男女女都一色的穿著粉紅（或者黑色加橘紅腰帶），點著猩紅的口紅，指尖上塗著蔻丹，隨著樂曲舞動肢體，乍一看覺得不可思議，覺得好滑稽，可是聽完歌曲，想，這就是歌手要聽者聽出的歌曲主題吧：戀愛的心情真的沒有性別差異，女追男也好，男追女也好，都一樣的... silly， 一樣的   弱智：患得患失斤斤計較，完全失去平素的頭腦眼界和聰明才智。歌曲的主題重點是：失戀和戀愛，人們的心境彼此一樣，女追男，或者男追女，甚至 女追女，男追男，... 追逐的是同一樣東西：愛 (it's all the same thing)。

注意到麥可森的歌曲中的伴舞服裝和舞蹈動作完全是借用羅伯特帕爾默那首1988年的曲子“簡直是不可抗拒”（Simply Irrisistable) 裏的（那首歌曲中女性完全是被動的背景），而麥可森這首歌曲中，男女一致地在背景裏有表示主動的動作和表情。這個對照也很有趣，可以看到社會上的性別意識的衍變。
