筆者家鄉，就在甘肅貧困地區，由於屬於貧困地區，當子女生活也很艱難時，絕大多數老人，一到六十歲，感到身體不適，或無法再使用蠻力，幹繁重農活時，就都選擇上吊自殺了。筆者村裏的鄰居夫婦，我們叫他們王伯夫婦，雖然他們生了很多子女，但由於子女，自己生活都很艱難，就於前幾年，在剛上七十或七十不到時，先後上吊自殺了。 (博訊 boxun.com)
筆者的親舅舅，由於看到自己子女，生活極艱難，為生活的瑣事，與大兒子，偶然頂撞幾句，便在剛上65歲的哪一年，非常絕望地上吊自殺了。
另外，還有很多屬於本村的老人，都是如此選擇自殺的。
關於這些方麵，由於不被媒體所關注，所以長期無人所知。
