These are some Chinese metrical poems that I recently wrote. It was a fun rhyme poetry game played with four other poetry friends. Our Ying Ying was one of them.
We have 48 hours to compose, using Pingshui rhyme system, "Wu Ge" rhymes, about 20-30 words to choose from. The word assigned to me is Ge, which means each of my poems must contain the word 歌. Some describe writing metrical poems is like dancing with chains on your ankles. The game that we played is like dancing with heavy chains on both our ankles and arms : ) These are the eight quatrains that I wrote. I finally had a taste of the ancient poets' so called body slimming 苦吟 experience. Although the slimming part may not be as effective as running, I did get my fair share of the bitterness and sweetness during the writing process ~ ~
I suggest playing the Chinese classical music attached below and drinking some green tea while reading the poems, to get the full experience ~
