道德經上篇:《道經》 第二十四章 【原文】 企者不立①;跨者不行②;自見者不明;自是者不彰③;自伐者無功;自矜者不長④。其在道也.曰:餘食贅(zhuì)形⑤。物或惡之,故有道者不處。 【注釋】 ①企:就是翹起足,用腳尖站立。 ②跨:加大步伐,想要快速行走。 ③彰:明顯,顯著。 ④長:長久。 ⑤贅(zhuì):多餘的。 【譯文】 踮起腳跟用腳尖站立,是站不牢的。腳步跨得太大,是走不了太遠的。自逞己見的,反而得不到彰明。自以為是的,反而得不到顯昭。自我誇耀的,反而建立不了功勳。自高自大的,反而不可能長久。能從“道”的角度衡量,以上這些急躁炫耀的行為,可以說都是剩飯贅瘤,惹人厭惡。所以懂得道的規律的人是不會這樣做的。 English Translation Version 1:by Daniel Baida Su and Shangyu Chen Those who stand on tiptoe cannot remain standing; Those who stride cannot walk.
