幾年前在內地流行的歌曲 " 卷珠簾 " 的前半段，很像英國民歌Scarborough Fair 的曲調 。

這首民謠在中世紀時，便在英國的鄉村流行。最初是在英國東北部一個海邊小鎮叫做 Scarborough的傳唱開來，歌詞作者姓名不詳。

Scarborough Fair在中業紀的英倫島上，是非常有名的集市，有點像內地的廣交會。據說是由英國國王亨利三世時期開始，即從1253年開始。買賣匯集英國各地的貨物，客戶甚至有從挪威，丹麥等國家來的。每年從8月15日開始，集市貿易長達45天, 集市在1788年結束。

曾經有過輝煌的曆史的Scarborough, 如今是很安靜的小鎮，而這首民歌至今還在傳唱。

在1963, 美國著名的歌手Bob Dylon, 曾將這首民謠改編成歌曲：" Girl From The North Country " 。

兩年後的1965年，美國歌手Paul Simon 去英國旅遊時，聽到這首民歌。第二年和搭檔Garfunkel一起，將這首民謠灌錄唱片發行，從此這首民歌傳遍全世界，

順便說一下，在上世紀的六十年代，Paul Simon 和他的搭檔Garfunkel , 是美國著名的民歌歌手。他倆合作的最有名的歌是：" The Sound of Silence "
