Description: These Canton meat platters and strainers are very useful and are hard to find complete. A set is worth more than the sum of its parts. Individually, platters or strainers are scarce, a set is considered rare. First are 3 sets shown with the pieces together and separate. Next are the bottoms of both the platters and strainers showing they are unglazed.
Most of these platters have 4 flowers on the outside, the only exception are platters in the 11" long or smaller category. There is a closeup of one flower and following that is a single platter that shows the inset edges that all the strainers fit into. All strainers are about 1/4" thick and have a large center finger hole to facilitate removing or placing the strainers. The larger strainers often have beveled edges on the undersides. Note: these oval pierced plates are also known as "drainers" or "mazarines". The range of sizes we have seen for platters is as follows: 7 3/4" wide x 10 7/8" long to the largest at 17" x 19 1/2".
The last photo has 4 orphan platters and one orphan strainer. If anyone has orphans, please let us know and maybe a match can be made for you or for us. Inset measurements for the 4 platters left to right: 5 3/4" x 8 3/8"-----5 3/4" x 8 1/2"-----7 3/4" x 10 1/2"-----10" x 13". Note: your strainers should be 1/8"-1/4" smaller than these measurements to fit. Our strainer is: 9 1/8" x 11 5/8".
