More on Bode Miller

Another news about Bode Miller today.

He got disqualified in the Combined. It is kind of disappointed to know that he already lost in two of the five skiing games in the Torino Olympics.

But again, what he said afterwards amused and even charmed me.

He said:

"It's not the first time I've hooked a tip, I've straddled probably more times than most people have finished the slalom”.

"If it's clear, it's clear," Miller said. "I don't plan to get disappointed."

And again, this is the state of mind that a contender should have, I think. If we are in a game, we should be able to enjoy it first. Winning competition is only the result of enjoying a game, not the dead end of it.

More about this idiosyncratic figure is that Bode and his family lived in the Mountain of New Hampshire, without electricity and indoor plumbing. He had to walk a few miles cross the wood to get to the school bus stop.

More importantly, he did not have to watch television when he was growing up.

If we want to talk about individualism, this is the individualism that we should talk about. Someone who does have some elements of individualism in his life.

Only some elements, though.

No one can be himself completely today. Not even the nonchalant Bode Miller, who wears a dozen brand logos all over his body when he rush downhill at 70 miles an hour.
