最近我家兒子自己在思考一個數學問題，琢磨了好幾天。我們說他是看了A Beautiful Mind之後就在家裏饒著桌子轉圈，研究數學問題，跟他說得象Nash一樣頭撞牆才能想出答案。
兒子請教了幾個數學很好的同學，同學也不知道答案。當他的一個印度好朋友說不會做這題，兒子和他開玩笑，you are a disgrace to the Asian society。人家很配合，老老實實地說，yes, I am.
他的問題是：
If there are X objects, and each object has Y possible states, and the arrangement of the objects doesn't matter, how many combinations are there?
