Mmmmm . . .

The art of eating

the ripened peach,

the fullness of sun & spring

rain . . . thunders in summer

& silent blossoms

of a frosty dawn --

the tongue

finally ceased

to fight the sound

The happiest song

that won’t go wrong

Mmmmm . . .

I see you slowly unfrown,

a joy freshly found

like a particular body ache

reminding you love

is still going strong:

expanding each cell

opening each

forgotten shell

Mmmmm . . .

The body remembers

all the small songs,

frabjous or remorse,

trapped in your heart,

chest and lungs:

Violence of the young

wingless nights

now gently touched

flattened out . . .

Out

Mmmmm . . .

Try to recall the first

river you bathed in, the

first words that burnt

your neck and ears, the

first kiss you were too young

to taste, the first blow of the wind

that broke the sail, the

first . . . the

first . . .

Mmmmm . . .

The O closes

into an almost-smile

Memory unearthing memory

Heart burying heart

Either tethered or ether,

like being feathered,

or do you rather

 . . . ?

Mmmmm . . .

Let yourself go!

Let your heart breathe, rest

unguarded for a moment.

Forget the million nevers & evers,

‘cause neither will outlast

this voiceless, unmitigated

flow of what deeply

matters, or

does it?

Mmmmm . . .
