A Heart Needs No Metaphor Poetry prevents one from playing Smart or the know-it-all For the smartest often ends up The foolest of fools Stop looking for an equivalent For the heart outside yourself A pearl? Emptiness? An engine? None of them works as a Heart A heart dwells where heart is suppose to Location! Location! Location! Even the business-minded learns this... The most figurative might be “mirror” Heart like a “mirror?” Why not? A mirror reflects truthfully! A mirror reflects All! But a mirror remains a mirror After the “objects” disappear Passion? Love? Anger? Change? What’s that? Mirrors lack what hearts possess Heart IS the metaphor It cries, bleeds, and even reflects When there is nothing to be “seen!” Love and hate all come pounding in it! Stop looking for an equivalent For this unique organ This Heart of your being that knows Everything and nothing! ::Nov. 2005
