這是為寶寶做的第N個生日蛋糕，心想以後也許很難再有機會親手為她做蛋糕了。幾個月之後，她就要飛了，自個兒離家上大學去了。她的生日又不在節假日，不會在家過了。哎呀，真快呀，寶寶都十八啦。自從學會做蛋糕以來，多少年了，每到生日，都親手給她們做蛋糕。心裏一直在琢磨著這“最後”一個生日蛋糕該做成什麽樣子。排球，是她酷愛的體育運動，高中四年都在校隊裏，為了它，再苦再累，甚至受傷掛彩，都心甘情願。排球帶給她活力與快樂。看看妹妹對姐姐的發自內心的讚歎吧：
Doing her homework on buses
Instead of at home,
Receiving whizzing serves from the opponent
While other teens chat on the phone.
These sacrifices are not that small,
The ones my sister makes for volleyball.
Training hard,even after the season ends,
Attending a club every Monday and Wednesday,
Competing in tournaments outside of school,
Right up until the start of May.

姐妹之情，溢於字裏行間，老媽深受感動。蛋糕的創意，由此而生。十八歲，人生的一個新起點，從此走向獨立和成熟。對老媽我而言，也是一個調整心態的轉折點。衷心祝願我親愛的寶寶今後的學習生活工作順順利利，幸福快樂，充滿陽光。
