in top rich USA
Yet on guts and wits
every success sure depends
Seeing endless reserve of cheap labour
in English-dumb new-comers
I first started a sewing shop
paying lower for longer hours
Soon I bought a building barrack-style
and rent to new-comers piece-meal
charging a deposit twice the rate
half or none to return when they left
(with a reason, of course, easy to find)
Rarely would they appeal to court
-- How could they afford
More properties I purchased later
and to be qualified for SSI benefits
for with silver my hair is now tinged
all transferred to my children*s names
What is my life*s worth if not
as a founding father to be remembered
for generations of my offspring
of a life of prosperity and fame
