幾年前，網友IwannaKnow在《美語世界》論壇貼了《聽歌學英語》係列，《Red River Valley 》《紅河穀》就是他貼的其中的一首，當時我還是第一聽到這首歌曲的英語版本，當那動聽的旋律一響起，我感覺頗為親切，因為我對《紅河穀》的中文版本頗為熟悉。早先的音頻鏈接早已失效了，今天我上傳了Slim Whitman演唱的英語版本，Slim Whitman是美國的鄉村歌手和作曲家，他以約德爾唱法聞名，以他獨特的迷人的音色唱出了離別的惆悵，莫忘故鄉的深情。Slim Whitman演唱的歌曲有"Rose Marie", "Indian Love Call" 和 "Secret Love"等。而中文版的《紅河穀》，我選擇了雲雀合唱團演唱版本，他們那和諧的天籟童聲，讓我想起青春歲月的純真美好。

網友IwannaKnow還同時貼了中文版的《雅拉瑪》，他說這首歌曲是誌願到西班牙反抗法西斯的國際縱隊英美士兵，利用加拿大民歌《紅河穀》的曲調編的一首小調，這些國際主義戰士經曆了慘烈的雅拉瑪戰役，很多人壯烈犧牲。不久，部分士兵從西班牙輾轉來到中國，支援中國人民的抗戰，於是，從那時起，《雅拉瑪》就在華夏大地流傳開來，成為小學音樂課堂上的保留曲目，經久不衰。讀了網友IwannaKnow關於《雅拉瑪》歌曲的介紹，讓我想起了海明威的作品《For Whom the Bell Tolls》。
