科學諾貝爾獎是用錢堆出來的我最近從NIH美國國家衛生研究院的一份報告看到,從2007–2010年拿R01orP01grant的平均直接費用directcost是$220,000,再加上間接費用indirectcost(至少50%)$110,000,大概等於$330,000,發文章的中位數是六.也就是說,大約$55,000發一篇論文(NIH博士後工資$四萬左右，博士生$三萬左右).想得獎就得發好文章.如果一位助理教授從三十歲起拿grant到五十歲,共二十年做研究課題[閱讀全文]

最近參加一個國內來美的“招賢會”。問起一民營藥廠的副所長(moleculardiagnostics,with3ypost-docexperience)掙多少。回答是20萬RMB,外加一套2brapartmentandacompany-providedcar. 問一下桌子左右的人，多數是StaffScientist,SeniorScientist,Groupleader,還有少數的是directors.有10到20年工作經驗技能的人現在掙$100kto$250k.大概是國內這位副所長的3到8倍。這些人要養家供房，20萬RMB（3萬多美元），根本不夠[閱讀全文]
