It’s been a while since I found out the Everbilt pump failed at the Pleasanton rental. It’s the raining season and water will be collecting under and around the house. The pit was full of water plus the water filed in the piping and it felt like I was draining a lake w a small submersible pump of 1/3 hp, that I attempted weeks ago. I have ill feeling of the Everbilt brand, deciding the original pump made by Zoeller, a $349.5 purchase, cast iron heavy duty.
There the new pump in w about a few inches taller than the coupler to the discharge line. I made a cut and reconnected w coupler, glad I brought the pipe cutter.
The new unit has a lighted plug so need an inch conduit to get thr. After getting the 1- inch electrical conduit plus a two foot pvc section (do they connect and how pvc vs electrical pipe differ?), the plug was 1/4” bigger than the pipe. Damn it, how did I measure wrong? decided just to pull thr an 2 inch pipe I found from the shed and cover it w base rock and dirt, and you won’t see it as I quickly buried my shoddy work.
The GFCI outlet was loose, the pump switching on and off. Judging how much time it takes for another day, I just bought a 20 amp outlet, and add a cover. One of the wire wasn’t tightened at all as I took out the old outlet in. How many errors did I make?
The Zoeller pump was a marvel and drained the collecting water under ten minutes. did I oversize it? good enough for now, and will find out the failed Everbilt pump and confirm it’s made in low grade, plastic.
I am sure calling a pro would be right and worry free for a long time, they may replace the check valve, put a right sized pump, right wire conduit , and a new gfci outlet. cost is not too easy for sure as well.
